***My Personal Review***

I love stories about different places and times and this has everything; nobility, intrigue, romance, mansions and most importantly a strong heroine that won't bow down to what her father wants and rails against tradition to make her own way in the world.  Even though Rhona's father is set on her marrying a rich laird but she isn't having it!  Instead she opts to go against her father and enters into an engagement with the dashing agent Charles Blackwood.  What follows after she leaves her home is a harrowing journey with twists and turns, loyalties and the ultimate disloyalty ... being betrayed by your own family.  But WHO is betraying Rhona?  You will have to read the book to find out - is it just one person or many?  And is Charles Blackwood the good guy that she has come to trust or just another one out to get her?  Bringing a British agent into the Scottish landscape really adds a great point of interest to the story :)  I really loved the Victorian England setting paired with the Scottish lifestyle and some of the humor that is mixed in.

The ending of the book sets up the next in the series very well and I have got to read Book #1 and Book #3 now because they all have one thing in common - strong sensible heroines and that is one thing that I really love in books!  This is definitely not your ordinary novel but I definitely got hooked on it and had a hard time putting it down :)
