***My Personal Review***

The first thing you notice about this set is how amazing it looks!  It comes in a gorgeous keepsake box encased in foam and the CDs are all nicely tucked into 2 fold out folders.  This would make a perfect gift for anyone, but I would definitely recommend it for college students or someone taking a vacation to France.  I did not have the opportunity in high school to learn French.  They only offered German and Spanish, and I chose Spanish.  But I have always wanted to parlez vous francais :)  When I got to college I figured with 4 years of Spanish why start over with a new language?  So I never took French at all.  And now I am sorry I didn't learn it.

With this set I have learned so much in a short amount of time!  Every word or phrase is clearly and phonetically stated to assist you in getting the correct pronunciation.  Plus they use repetition to help you learn as well.  You will hear several words or phrases and then they will go on and use them in a sentence and then you may learn another and they will then go BACK and repeat the previous one.  So you are listening to it and hearing it over and over which is the best way to learn.  And I always thought reading things made it very hard to learn a new language.  But with this set you get to hear it, repeat it back and then hear it again.  It's a cycle but it WORKS.  If you already have a pretty good base knowledge of French then this would be very easy for you - but for those who have no base or are very rusty on their French it is amazing.  I think all ages could learn French easily with this program.

The set consists of 16 CDs and each CD contains lessons.  You are encouraged to do one lesson per day simply because it is a lot of information being thrown at you, plus it gives you time after listening to one lesson to practice more before starting a new one.  There are several speakers on the lessons, you basically get a conversation and then that conversation is broken down into words and phrases.  And following that it becomes interactive where you repeat what was said, and then it is stated again by the speaker so you know if you said it correctly.  Repetition is the key and it does take patience because no language is easy to learn.  It all takes time and going slowly is the best way.  And this set takes it slow and easy which is why I think it would be great for kids as well.

All in all this is a great set for the price - I have seen very simplistic sets for a lot more money.  I would most definitely recommend purchasing any Pimsleur set to learn a new language or brush up :)  I have had the French, Italian and Spanish so far to review and they are all wonderful!  Click the top image to go straight to Amazon and pick up your set!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
